We believe that food is just as important as medicine in delivering aid to people in need. The One Less Starving Person (OLSP) Program was designed to feed the hungry. GMMI is collecting change (coins: pennies, dimes, nickels, quarters) to buy food for starving people overseas.
All change can be picked up by GMMI. Please contact (847) 312-5400 to schedule a pickup. With your help, there will be one less starving person in the world. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! You can also donate to us online using your credit card via the trusted online payment provider, PayPal.
During a trip, co-founder Jay Kim visited a village where he mysteriously encountered the same common symptoms amongst the patients -- headache, stomach pain, and fatigue. He wondered if it was the beginning of a disease outbreak, or perhaps an iron and vitamin deficiency. However, after noticing how the symptoms disappeared after he gave patients some breakfast bars, he realized there was an ailment he had been overlooking all along: hunger.
Malnutrition is a severe issue in many impoverished countries, as many populations around the world suffer from famine and drought. In many cases, medicine itself is not sufficient when people suffering from malnutrition do not have even the most basic needs of sustenance and hydration fulfilled. Additionally, many medications we supply often need to be taken with food. This is why GMMI has made food and water provision one of its primary goals.
